Celebrate International Women’s Day!

So what does that mean exactly? Well for one, you should take a load off!

On International Women’s Day, women and our allies are to act together for equity, justice and the human rights of women and all gender-oppressed people, through a one-day demonstration and economic solidarity. Women are encouraged to:

  1. Women take the day off, from paid and unpaid labor
  2. Avoid shopping for one day (with exceptions for small, women- and minority-owned businesses).
  3. Wear RED in solidarity with A Day Without A Woman

So, let’s celebrate!

  1. Get together with your girls to celebrate femininity! It’s a time to relish in the power of womanhood and contemplate how we can come together for change. What better way to acknowledge that than to kick the boys to the curb for a bit & spend time with the women who inspire you and whose friendships you truly appreciate.

2) Write A Letter

Take time out of your day to write a thoughtful letter to a woman you admire. It could be a beloved family member, a mentor, a cherished friend. Regardless, this is a time for you to share how much they mean to you and how they’ve impacted your life. It’ll be rewarding for you and not to mention tremendously appreciated by them.

3) Book A TripĀ

Listen here hunnie, there is no greater teacher and traveling and experiencing other cultures. Whether you need a vacation or just want a few days away to ‘getcho’ yo life’- book a trip to a distant location with your girls, family or even just by yourself. Take the time to get to know another culture and the women who’ve contributed to it.

4.) Enjoy A Novel By A Female Author

From Zora Neale Hurston to Maya Angelou, Black female writers have had a tremendous impact on not only our literary history. So do yourself a favor and pick up one of their classic pieces to enjoy throughout your day. (Their Eyes Were Watching God, By Zora Neale Hurston is my favorite!)
